Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers on Friday picked a combined XI for India and South Africa during their Instagram chat that touched upon a range of topics including the Covid-19 pandemic.
The two Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen discussed quite a few options before settling in on a squad of 14 members keeping Ravindra Jadeja, Morne Morkel and Kuldeep Yadav out of the playing XI.
Virat Kohli picked Gary Kirsten as the coach of the India-South Africa combined XI and picked MS Dhoni as the captain.
“For me, MS (Dhoni), MS is probably the most balanced choice,” Virat Kohli said.
“I am happy with that choice. I have never played under MS. But I have a world of respect for him. The way he carries himself on and off the field. I mean, he is always calm and he knows the game well. So I am happy with that,” AB de Villiers said.
While AB de Villiers picked Sachin Tendulkar as his opener, Virat Kohli was quick to pick Rohit Sharma as his choice for the 2nd opener’s slot in the team.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers also said they will be auctioning their kits used in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in 2016 to help raise funds for Covid-19 relief.
“People will go there and bid and all the proceeds will go towards the Covid-19 issue for a cause that goes towards getting food on people’s tables. I am thinking of sharing the proceeds with you so that we can use it in India and South Africa. 50-50,” AB de Villiers said.
“That’s amazing the fact that you also share a part of it for India. Quite an amazing gesture. I got the stuff that you asked from me,” Kohli said.
